Pauline Joyce Hutchinson Meyer was born on June 4, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. She is known as a divinely inspired speaker and author. Her radio programs have been heard in 200 countries and have been translated into 25 languages. She has also authored over 80 Christian books. On January 7, 1967, Joyce married her husband, Dave. They have four children and still reside in St. Louis.
Not long after Joyce was born, her father went into the Army to fight World War II. Shortly after his return, he began molesting her, which she often brings up during her speeches. After high school, she married her first husband who was dishonest and often cheated on her. The marriage lasted five years.
One day on her way to work in 1976, she prayed intensely, then heard God speak to her. She started a Bible class and joined the Life Christian Center, then went on to be the Associate Pastor. In 1985, she left the church and began her own ministry, called Life in the Word. From the Life Christian University, Joyce earned her PhD in Theology in Tampa, Florida.
Throughout the years, Joyce has aired Christian television shows, supported and encouraged by her husband, Dave. In 2005, Time magazine awarded her as one of the most influential evangelist speakers in the world. By 2007, more than 3.2 billion copies of her books have sold throughout the world. Joyce also conducts at least 15 workshops annually.
Joyce Meyers has been a blessing to millions of people through her sharing, beliefs and faith in God. She is a testament that no matter what you have done or what's been done to you, God speaks to each and every one of us.
